The best whisky in the world? Answer this question for yourself when Tokyo meets Toronto at ‘Sushi + Spirit’, our Japanese pop-up bar hosted by Yuki Yamazaki and Kentaro Wada. In addition to a selection of specially imported Japanese whiskies, guests will be invited to discover the subtlety and zen of a well made highball, alongside whisky served ‘mizuwari’ and paired with sushi freshly prepared on-site.

From sugar cane to bottle: Spirit of Toronto extends a warm welcome to the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers’ Association as they join us to tell the story behind this unique, complex spirit, offering guests an opportunity to taste and talk about the provenance, history and quality of the 18 handcrafted, artisanal rums that make up their portfolio.

Spirit of Toronto is excited to once again showcase the finest whiskies and premium spirits from around the world!

Since 2004 this spectacular event has become a ‘must’ on the food & drink calendar: a selection of 100 plus whiskies and premium spirits, tutored tastings courtesy of the Spirit of Toronto Masterclass Series, live jazz, a gourmet table d’hôte, and our dedicated cocktail loft under the glass canopy of Roy Thomson Hall’s mezzanine level.

Admission is $165 and includes all samples courtesy of exhibitors, a Blender’s Malt Whisky Glass, access to tutored tastings, a hot and cold table d’hote, food and drink pairings, and the opportunity to taste and learn with brand ambassadors, distillery representatives and industry professionals.

Coming in from out of town? We’re pleased to offer excellent group rates with the Ritz-Carlton Toronto, Marriott Residence Inn Downtown Toronto, and the Fairmont Royal York. Please follow the links on our Hotel page or call the hotel directly and quote ‘Spirit of Toronto’ when booking.

Spirit of Toronto welcomes the return of our friends from Union Local 613, wearing their hearts on their sleeves as they invite guests to learn more about Canada’s native spirit. We’re pleased to have them present a wide array of this country’s finest whiskies, including spicy 100% ryes, legacy bottlings and seldom seen export selections bottled at cask strength, as they seek to explain, educate and explore the conundrum that is Canadian ‘rye’.

We look forward to having our mates Phil and Simon Thompson join us from the Dornoch Castle in Scotland—rated the #1 whisky hotel in the world, and we agree. They’ll be here to put forth 3 blind samples and a seemingly easy question: is older better? Challengers will have fifteen minutes to arrange the samples in order of age, with prizes and bragging rights for the winners, and an educational tasting experience for all.
